H.R.H. the Grand Duke in New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly

From 20 to 23 September, H.R.H. the Grand Duke is in New York for the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), accompanied by Minister Xavier Bettel. The Head of State will address the General Debate, bringing together Heads of State and Government, to present Luxembourg’s positions and priorities on major international challenges.

On Monday, the Grand Duke and the Minister paid tribute to the victims of the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks by laying a wreath at the 9/11 Memorial. Twenty-five years after the attacks, their memory remains deeply embedded in our collective consciousness.

The day continued with several bilateral meetings, including with H.E. António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, and H.M. King Abdullah II of Jordan.
