State Visit of the Republic of Singapore to Luxembourg - Day One
Welcome to Luxembourg!

At the invitation of Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess, His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, and Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam began a two-day State Visit to Luxembourg on Thursday.
Fifty years ago, in March 1975, the governments of Singapore and Luxembourg established diplomatic relations, and this visit is part of the ongoing development of our economic and political ties. Today, this relationship is built on strong foundations, with a shared commitment to the rule of law and a globally integrated economy.
The delegations will explore new avenues of cooperation in sectors such as finance, FinTech, telecommunications, and civil security.
Official Welcoming Ceremony

This morning, the Grand Ducal Couple welcomed the Singaporean Presidential Couple in front of the Grand Ducal Palace for the traditional welcoming ceremony, which was immediately followed by a bilateral meeting. The Presidential Couple then laid a wreath at the National Monument of Luxembourgish Solidarity.
After the ceremony, President Shanmugaratnam met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mr. Claude Wiseler, and then with Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Xavier Bettel at the Palace.

Welcome ceremony at the City Town Hall

After lunch, His Excellency Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of Singapore, Mrs. Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam, and Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess were welcomed at the City Hall of the Capital by Mayor Mrs. Lydie Polfer and the municipal councilors for the traditional welcome ceremony.
Visit of the MUDAM

The program continued with a visit to the MUDAM in the presence of Minister Éric Thill. The presidential couple and the grand-ducal couple explored the exhibitions "Nets for Night and Day" by Lubaina Himid and Magda Stawarska, "Monsieur Steichen" by Lisa Oppenheim, as well as the retrospective "Ho Tzu Nyen: Time & the Tiger, " which tells – through staged scenes – two decades of stories and travels experienced by the Singaporean artist Ho Tzu Nyen in Southeast Asia.
Visit of the "Chemin de la Corniche"

A visit of the famous "Chemin de la Corniche" allowed the presidential couple to discover a unique view of the city's historical heritage.
