Pope Francis' visit to Luxembourg - Welcome ceremony at the airport

The Grand Ducal couple, accompanied by the Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, welcomed His Holiness Pope François at Luxembourg airport on Thursday.

The last visit of a Supreme Pontiff to the Grand Duchy dates back to May 1985, during the trip of His Holiness John Paul II. The Grand Ducal Couple, at the time the Hereditary Couple, was present for this very first papal visit to Luxembourg.
