Biography

His Royal Highness Prince Félix was born on 3 June 1984 at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Prince Félix Léopold Marie Guillaume, Prince of Luxembourg, Prince of Nassau and Bourbon-Parma, is the second child of Their Royal Highnesses Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.

Named after his great-grandfather Prince Félix of Bourbon-Parma, Prince Félix of Luxembourg is the third in the order of succession to the throne.

In December 2012, the Office of the Marshal of the Court announced the engagement of Prince Félix and Claire Lademacher. Their wedding took place on 21 September 2013 at the Basilica of Sainte Marie-Madeleine de Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume in France. By marriage, Claire Lademacher holds the title of Her Royal Highness Princess Claire of Luxembourg, Princess of Nassau.

Prince Félix and Princess Claire are parents to a daughter and two sons: Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa, born on June 15, 2014, at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg; Prince Liam Henri Hartmut, born on November 28, 2016, at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu in Geneva; and Prince Balthazar Félix Karl, born on January 7, 2024, at the Maternité Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in Luxembourg.

Education and work

After completing his primary school in Lorentzweiler, Prince Félix continued his secondary school studies at the private school Notre-Dame Sainte-Sophie de Luxembourg, then at the American School of Luxembourg. In 1998, he joined the Swiss boarding school Collège Alpin Beau Soleil in Villars-sur-Ollon, where he met his future wife, Claire Lademacher. In 2003, he graduated with honours from secondary school. He then joined the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom, but had to quit for health reasons before graduating.

Afterwards, Prince Félix completed a number of internships in various companies. From 2005 to 2009, he worked at the marketing and public relations department of a Swiss company specialising in the organisation of sporting and cultural events.

The Prince then decided to resume his studies. He first took intensive Italian language courses in Milan before enrolling in a Bachelor’s degree and completing a Master's degree in Bioethics at the University Regina Apostolorum in Rome in 2013.

With his wife, Princess Claire, he has been managing the Château Les Crostes wine estate in Lorgues in the South of France since October 2013. In 2016, Prince Félix also became the president of the Lorgues Terre de Vins association, a group of twelve winegrowers from Lorgues, who promote their town in the Provence as an attractive tourist and wine destination. With a couple of friends, Prince Félix and Princess Claire created the 'Young Empire' company in 2016, a clothing, furniture and homeware brand for children. As an entrepreneur himself, Prince Félix closely monitors the progress of several start-ups, offering advice as well as investing in those that he finds most promising.

In addition to Luxembourgish, Prince Félix is fluent in French, English, German and Italian. He also has some basic knowledge of Spanish.

Official activities

Prince Félix regularly takes part in the activities of the Grand Ducal Family. When his schedule permits, the Prince attends ceremonies or official activities such as the National Day or the last day of the Octave

Occasionally, he and his wife participate in other activities, such as visiting the International Bazaar of the Luxembourg Red Cross.

Prince Félix has accepted the High Patronage of the parachutist sports association Cercle Para Luxembourg/Fédération aéronautique luxembourgeoise (FAL) in 2003.

As a keen basketball fan, he has also held the permanent High Patronage of the Luxembourg Basketball Federation (FLBB, Fédération luxembourgeoise de Basket Ball) since 2005. He also likes to attend basketball matches in Luxembourg on a regular basis.

A winemaker himself, Prince Félix is eager to support the know-how of Luxembourg's winegrowers and occasionally participates in events. For instance, Prince Félix attended the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the Vinsmoselle wine cooperative in 2016. In 2018, he was present at the 'Hunnefeier' in Schengen, a tradition celebrating the end of the grape harvest.

The Prince holds the rank of Knight of the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau.

Interests and hobbies

During his youth, Prince Félix was a member of the Scouts.

For five consecutive years, Prince Félix received the title of 'best athlete' at the Collège Alpin Beau Soleil. He regularly plays tennis and golf and is a keen skydiver, kite surfer and water skier. As a fan of winter sports since his childhood, the Prince has reached a remarkable level in skiing.

After having lived in Rome and Geneva, Prince Félix moved to Frankfurt with his family in 2018.
