Representatives of Luxembourg’s youth movements and associations, young people born on the same day as the young couple (on 11 November 1981 and 18 February 1984), as well as couples also planning to get married on 20 October 2012 were invited. In the afternoon, H.R.H. Prince Guillaume and Countess Stéphanie went to the Luxembourg City hall for the civil wedding ceremony conducted by the Mayor, Xavier Bettel, in the presence of their families and members of the Government.

At the end of the civil ceremony, the young couple met the people of Luxembourg who had been watching the procession between the Grand Ducal Palace and the city hall on the Place Guillaume II on a large screen. In the evening, a gala dinner was held at the Grand Ducal Palace.
